Customers use our aluminium tubing solutions in heat transfer applications for the automotive, HVAC and solar market segments, and utilize tube lines for carrying liquids or gases. Our global footprint in manufacturing and technical support allows us to support global and regional customers with top-quality products and unmatched capability.
Sapa Precision Tubing has about 2,000 employees at 17 plants and product and process development centers, serving local and global customers all around the world. The business area is managed from Oslo, Norway.
Sapa Precision Tubing consists of 2 product groups:
Sapa Welded Tubes
Sapa Extruded Products
The Sapa Welded Tubes group serves the global market from 4 locations:
SPTL - Lichtervelde, Belgium (ex Remy Claeys)
SPTP - Pune, India
SPTR - Remscheid, Germany
SPTS - Shanghai, China
Every year we service our customers worldwide with precision welded tubes via 6 production plants and 7 sales offices, located on 3 different continents. A global approach, supported by local service, enables us to have close contact with our customers in every region. By combining our technical competences, we assist our customers in their search for the best solution to meet ever-changing market requirements.
As a key player in the market today, Sapa Welded Tubes keeps innovating allowing us to offer exceptional quality to our customers of industrial, HVAC&R and automotive products on a day-to-day basis.
FLAT-OVAL TUBES FOR RADIATORS
Since the very beginning automotive engines have been cooled by air-liquid systems. This is still state of the art but nowadays new applications as air-liquid charge air coolers and contact battery coolers increase the thermal burden on the main system with their indirect loops.
With our customers we already designed and still develop tubes with enhanced characteristics to face these new challenges of moving away heat from devices not located near the cooling air flow at the front end. In addition to the traditional flat-oval tubes in dozens of dimensions we offer welded B-type-tubes and dimpled surfaces, continuous or with free end zones. For some very special applications we also deliver welded tubes for posterior mechanical expanding.
TUBES WITH INSERTED TURBULATORS: CAC AND OIL COOLERS
New powertrain designs show ever growing challenges for cooling down charge air and oils. In heavy duty applications, as e.g. construction and agricultural machines, the number of installed oil coolers has increased enormously during the last years.
Charge air and hot oil tend to form laminar flows within the tubes and heat exchange is low at the tubes‘ inner surface. To increase the necessary turbulences and hence increase the heat exchange performance of these devices we offer tubes including inserted turbulators, rolled or stamped. Our rolled turbulators are equipped with louvers while the stamped ones are designed as off-set types, serving both, charge air and oil coolers. Tubes can be customized with round roofs or as almost rectangular.
ROUND TUBES AS COLLECTORS FOR MOBILE AC-APPLICATIONS
What was special only two decades ago today is a must: air conditioning in cars and trucks. But not only the quantity has changed significantly, also the application itself has undergone several modifications. Just as in the cooling of charge air, environmental laws do focus on ‚green‘ technologies, resulting in industry-wide R&D on alternative coolants as ammonia or CO2, demanding higher pressures resistances. Our thick-walled round tubes do serve condensers, evaporators and heaters, traditional or innovative.
We can deliver in fixed lengths or long tubes, in perfectly round or D-shape, as plain tubes or ready to use incl. slots, drill holes, baffles and welded-on connection blocks. Responding to the growing number of electric and hybrid vehicles, our newest development shows lengthwise slots to be used as collectors for contact battery coolers.
