Active Audio was founded in April 2002 by Xavier Meynial, then Professor and researcher at the acoustics laboratory of the Université du Maine (France). The aim was to create a commercial application of research work patented under “Reflecteur Sonore Actif”. This innovating project was a winner of ANVAR (French National Research Reward Agency) in 2001.

Since then, the close relationship with research is one of the characteristics of Active Audio, whose vocation is to develop and manufacture innovating electroacoustics systems for the active control of rooms and professional audio.

Well known for the patented DGRC (Digital & Geometric Radiation Control) principle, which main advantage is to decrease the number of channels to be controlled in a DSP column, compared to a system where every loudspeaker must be controlled independently. This means that it becomes possible to separate the electronics from the columns, giving further advantages: reduced weight, slimmer dimensions for equivalent power, facilitated maintenance of the electronics, less electronics.

Active Audio’s expertise is at the crossroads of acoustics and sound reinforcement : our products use the means of sound reinforcement (microphones, filters, amplifiers, loudspeakers…) for solving acoustical problems.
Active Audio is also a very reactive team, which offers:
· a service Audio Engineering, to design and manufacture your sound system, software, and equipment;
· a technical aid to sound technicians, acousticians, and architects to help you find the acoustical system adapted to your problem;
· innovative and elegant DSP columns, designed to equip buildings with large volumes (cathedrals, railway stations, malls, etc) – StepArray,
· sound guidance systems to improve the autonomy of the visually impaired in an unknown environment – Sagitone
