Machine beds and base elements made of NANODUR®-concrete
Massive machine beds and base elements are usefully, if the machine-tools are working in a high speed mode and at the same time a high precision is necessary. Because of their high damping, polymer concrete or granite are favorite materials for top milling–, grinding– or turning machines.
The development of new High-Tech-Concretes with optimization of nano-scale-particles in the cement gives the opportunity, to use concrete for machine beds. With the new binder NANODUR®, such machine elements may be simply produced using aggregates together with a mineralic cement and water.
UHPC or Ultra High Performance Concrete can be designed to your special needs (strength, ductility, density, young´s modulus). You don´t need solvents, the fresh paste can be removed with water. Hardening takes place under normal athmospheric conditions at ambient temperatures. Moulding with wood is economic for small charges, positiv model making is not necessary. Other moulding materials are steel or elstomeric materials. There is no size limitation, qualified prefab companies produce day by day prestressed elements up to 40 m length and 20 to weight.
Cement based concrete is resitant against heat, flying sparks and is non-combustible. The material is frost resistant and resistant againts high temperature as well as against oil, grease or basic chemicals. The fresh concrete paste can be removed with water, so the production is simple and sustainable. The machine bed can be drilled, cutted, smoothed, grinded or painted. The recycling of old beds is simple, because the material may be certified as construction waste.
