PyroTex Fibers GmbH the producer of the highly flame and heat resistant fiber PyroTex® can now also offer solution dyed shades in their 2.8dtex (2.5den) version which has been sought after by many customers in order to take them to the next step in their developments with PyroTex® for products which require very high colour fastness levels.
The 5 business units of PyroTex Fibers GmbH (Protective Apparel – Filtration - Public Transportation - Technical applications – Contract textiles) will present the newest products and developments with PyroTex® during the upcoming Techtextil trade show in Frankfurt.
PyroTex® is an engineered acrylic fiber with a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 43% and a continuous running temperature of 250°C (480°F). It is acid, alkali, UV and hydrolysis resistant. It is not thermoplastic and therefore does not melt or drip.
None of the common FR agents such as antimony, halogens, bromides or phosphoros are used and as such no toxic fumes are emitted.
The fiber which is certified Class I according to the very strict Oeko-Tex Standard 100, can be used in nonwovens as well as in spun yarns and is available in 2,2/2,8/3,8dtex (2.0/2.5/3.5den) and cut lengths between 10-120mm (0.8-4.0in).
PyroTex® was the first fiber to combine all these properties into one which provided the industry with new possibilities in their product development.
Today PyroTex® is providing safety in airplanes as fire-blocker, comfort and protection as base-layer and outer shell for apparel applications and heat resistance for hotgas filters to only name a few of the ever growing products using PyroTex®.
PyroTex® is a newly developed safety and protection fiber in which all properties are inherent rather than achieved by adding other, usually polluting and harmful chemicals.
Antimony and halogens are frequently being used during the production of flame resistant fibers. This is NOT the case with PyroTex®.
Exposed to heat respectively fire/flames one can observe:

PyroTex® does not produce toxic fumes
