Carbon Neutral lighting columns
Our climate is changing. The effects are occurring all over the world, for example, unusual dry spells, heat waves, floods and hurricanes. This can lead to poverty, diseases and problems with fertile ground. At Sapa Pole Products we are aware that our company can contribute to a better environment. As a production company we can take steps to minimize the CO2 emissions. That is why we analyzed our production process with help of an independent consultancy group. The lighting columns are 100% recyclable, time after time and since there is no downgrade, the quality of the material is guaranteed every time. With our new patented reinforcement profile the columns can be produced with up to 20% less weight. Because of this material saving, CO2 emissions are reduced. Apart from that emissions are reduced by the use of a very environmentally friendly root section protection system, which allows more of the used column to be recycled, and by a series of energy saving measures that are carried out at Sapa Pole Products. Historically, the columns produced by Sapa Pole Products consisted of between 80 to 95% recycled aluminium. After critical research on scrap purchasing and optimizing the calculation process of the input of metal, the cast house department is now using a guaranteed minimum of 95% recycled aluminium in the production of all lighting columns Climate Neutral Group Sapa Pole Products cooperates with the Climate Neutral Group to compensate the CO2 emissions, through a Compost project in Egypt. By composting the organic waste, methane emissions are avoided. Soil and More International is a Dutch company that has developed standards and techniques to produce high quality compost suitable for organic and conventional farming. Together with Libra/Sekem Holding, an Egyptian agricultural producing facility, they produce and sell controlled microbial compost (CMC). The compost is then sold to local farmers, who are able to make use of it all year round.
