Hospitality Lighting
Product Information Fibre optics can be used to produce wonderful atmospheric lighting in hotels, restaurants, bars and night clubs. The mood of a restaurant can be altered by a subtle alteration in light colour. Clubs and bars can have stunning effects in the evening which can be toned down for daytime clientele. Fibre optics can produce exquisite effect lighting and highly controllable display lighting. It is ideal for use as functional lighting in serveries and around bar gantries due to its minuscule heat emission. It can make a focal point of any feature area. Product Specification Our products are of a bespoke nature, and so do not have a set specification. An example of how we would light a hospitality project such as the one pictured follows. Universal Fibre Optics were selected by the Oxfordshire office of lighting designers DPA, to provide fibre optic lighting effects for the Gran Casino Al Jarafe development in Seville, Spain. A number of areas used fibre optics to provide ceiling starfields which were varied in their effect by using different fibres and end fittings to provide a unique look to each area. The ceiling above the casino floor used crystal fittings which give a bright point of light and an interesting patterned cast around each fitting. In the bar and above slot machines, bare-ended 1mm polymer fibre was used to give small star-like points of light. The reception area used UFO12D downlights to give larger diffuse points of light.

Museum and Gallery Lighting
Product Information Universal Fibre Optics are specialists in conservation lighting for museums and galleries. We have a range of original products including the unique hermetic fittings, light tubes and light wands and specialist cabinet mounting extrusions with articulated fittings. With their extremely low heat and UV output, fibre optics will not damage delicate items on display, making this technology ideal for lighting rare books and manuscripts, paintings, textiles and any other item prone to degradation by light. There is a choice of colour temperatures available and many light sources can be optionally made dimmable. Wework with museums, galleries or display case manufacturers to develop custom made systems to suit each installation. Product Specification As our products are created to customers’ own specifications, there is no standard product for museum lighting. An example of museum lighting (as pictured) instead follows. Universal Fibre Optics manufactured and supplied custom CX4 gantries to illuminate various motorcycle related exhibits in the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, USA. Consisting of eight individual gantries, each powered by a separate Ixion 100W light source, this system was specially chosen due to low noise, heat and UV output. The 34DB fittings are directional and focusable and can provide a wide angle of light which provides good coverage from each individual fitting.
