Armughon is the handicraft arm of the Zerafshan Tourism Development Association (ZTDA) created in Tajikistan in 2008 with support from the EU and the German Non-Government-Organization Welthungerhilfe. ZTDA aims to develop sustainable and inclusive tourism, which includes empowering rural women's economic development through handicraft production.
ZTDA has set up four handicraft production groups with 120 women which have been trained on sewing and handicraft production. The beauty of our designs inspired by ethnic ornaments is widely admired. We sell the exclusive products of the craftswomen in our ZTDA shops, at trade fairs and online.
We provide income to disadvantaged rural women and apply fair trade principles. One of our products was awarded a seal of excellence of UNESCO in 2014.
