‘Awagami Factory’ is a registered brand name for “Awa washi “, a brand of Japanese papers produced in Tokushima (where papermaking can be traced back to nearly 1300 years). Responding to the current demands of artists and creators, Awagami Factory strives to liberate washi solely from the area of ‘tradition’ and incorporate it into contemporary life and art. Awagami produces handmade and machine made papers with eco-friendly fibers: Kozo, Bamboo, Mitsumata, Gampi and Hemp. Our manufacturing flexibility allows us to produce both small and large lots of fine art and digital printmaking papers, decorative papers, conservation papers, interior papers and stationery. We also collaborate with artists & designers to develop new concepts that may prove suitable for washi papermaking. For nearly 300 years the Fujimori family and Awagami have maintained a nurturing focus on the environment while striving for excellence and innovation in washi papermaking.
