With an exclusive focus on textile coatings, our global team of experts possesses strong product, application and industry knowledge, high creativity and an unparalleled willingness to serve.
Global supply chain, global R&D setup
Covestro operates world-class coatings resin production facilities in Germany and China that serve coated textile and PU synthetics manufacturers in key markets. Further, we have R&D centers that are equipped with pilot textile coating line facilities that successfully replicate customer production processes. This enables us to:
Deliver tailor-made solutions for formulation and machine settings
Speed up your industrial scale-up process
Reduce your downtime and lost productivity
Partnerships that count
We offer a voluntary scheme for manufacturers fulfilling certain criteria of sustainable manufacturing practices to become INSQIN® Partners and help contribute to the upgrading of the sustainability of the supply chain.
Enabling a new era of material sustainability in PU-coated fabrics
INSQIN® waterborne polyurethane (PU) technology invented by Covestro enables an entirely new level of material sustainability for PU-coated fabrics used by the apparel and footwear industry. By enabling solvent-free material manufacturing processes, INSQIN® brings significant improvements to worker safety, eliminates risks of environmental pollution and drastically reduces the consumption of water and energy.
PU brings functionality and effect to a wide range of coated, finished or printed textile materials that are used in fashion, sports and outdoorwear. Examples of PU fabrics are the synthetic materials used widely by the fashion industry for shoes, garments and accessories, by the sportswear industry for footwear and balls, and by the outdoor industry for waterproof and breathable garments. Color, design, durability, breathability, waterproofness and pleasant handfeel are just some of the functionalities that INSQIN® brings.
Indeed INSQIN® can enable new possibilities in design, comfort, performance and even the manufacturing of textile-based articles, thus helping customers address not only sustainability commitments but product and manufacturing innovation goals too.
INSQIN® also represents innovation in approach. Covestro offers a unique set of services to accelerate the introduction of new products and promote sustainable practices and transparency in the supply chain. They work closely with both manufacturers and brand owners on projects, connecting needs from the market with the possibilities offered by the INSQIN® technology.
For manufacturers, Covestro’s state-of-the-art pilot coating facilities allow much of the material development to happen with a minimal stoppage in their production. Companies meeting sustainable production criteria can also join the INSQIN®Partner Manufacturer program.Covestro also works directly with brand owners to realize the maximum innovative potential of the INSQIN® technology by developing materials in parallel with their product development.
By addressing major industry needs such as a high range in possible materials and more sustainability in the production process for players all over the value chain, INSQIN® is keeping its promise “Inventing textile inspirations for you”.
