The Cadac name has been synonymous with the design and manufacture of high quality audio mixing consoles since 1968. Cadac consoles can be found across the globe in recording studios, prestigious theatres and houses of worship as well as on concert tours.
Iconic albums such Supertramp's “Crime of the Century”the Clash’s “London Calling” the SexPistols’ “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols”, AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” and Queen‘s“A Night at the Opera” were all, or had tracks, mixed on a Cadac recording console.
Cadac has been at the heart of countless theatre productions including Billy Elliot, We Will Rock You, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, Lion King, South Pacific, Chicago, Guys and Dolls and Oh What a Lovely War.
Cadac was, and is, the console of choice for concert touring for acts such as Van Halen, Rolling Stones, Franz Ferdinand, Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Status Quo, The Beach Boys, Tom Jones, Bryan Adams, Biagio Antonacci, 10cc and The Feeling.
Cadac’s current console line-up includes the large format CDC eight-32 and CDC eight-16 digital audio mixing consoles, the CDC six, a medium format digital console, and the CDC four:m a small format rack mountable digital console.
The digital audio protocol the consoles use is Cadac’s own propriety format - MegaCOMMS. MegaCOMMS is a robust, TDM (time division multiplex) system. Control data is embedded within the data stream, so that no audio channels have to be sacrificed for this purpose. The high bandwidth available means that the current implementation of MegaCOMMS can carry 128 channels of 24-bit, 96 kHz audio, plus control data, plus clock, bi-directionally, up to 150 metres via a pair of RG6 coaxial cables. In addition to audio and control data, MegaCOMMS provides for accurate, phase-aligned clock distribution, by embedding timing markers in the data stream. This allows reliable, low-jitter synchronisation of all hardware elements within a network.
Cadac is one of the few console manufactures that can still supply large format analogue consoles with the classic J-Type. Cadac can also supply the S-Type a modular console and the compact LIVE1 series of analogue consoles.
