Carus - Excellence in Choral Music
Carus is one of the leading publishers of vocal music worldwide. Our editions adhere to the highest scholarly standards and are distinguished by the excellent quality of their music engraving as well as by their attractive presentation. With forewords printed in three languages, the editions are addressed to an international audience.
Choral music is the main emphasis of our catalog, which includes more than 28,000 items with works by composers such as Heinrich Schütz, Johann Sebastian Bach and the Bach Family, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Franz Schubert. But through the years we have expanded the range of our catalog to include, among other interests, music for children, which has recently attained added significance at Carus with the publication of important projects, such as the award-winning LIEDERPROJEKT, featuring such themes as the lullaby and childrens's music for Christmas. Another interesting project in this area is the "Chorissimo" series, which emphasizes school music for children of all ages. It features vocal music in various styles, from pop to classic and jazz to folk.
In the field of instrumental music, early music and works for organ play a large role in our music program. Editions of music books (biographies, musical analyses, etc.), complete editions (e.g., Rheinberger and Puccini), as well as our newly-developed music apps designed to help choral singers rehearse their music for performance round out the range of our products.
Finally, for over thirty years we have been producing outstanding recordings on our own Carus CD label with great works of music performed by the most renowned international artists of our time; many of these CDs feature works which have also been published by Carus as part of our own music porgam. Numerous awards are testimony to the excellent quality to be heard on our label.
