ANGELA – NEUE WIENER WERKSTÄTTE was founded already in 1953 by Angela and “Angelo” – Viktor Nedwed. Since 1995, their son Chris Nedwed has been running the shop. The jewelry collections with handcrafted, enameled glass pearls and brooches made from synthetic resin varnish by Angela as well as Angelo’s decorative paintings inspired by Gustav Klimt, with glass stones, gold leaf and copper wire, have long since had a reputation. Chris Nedwed works with glass (glass painting) and has recently started to continue his father’s technique. This year, he launches a new jewelry collection „AD|Angela“ to debut at Ambiente.
The jewelry collection inspired by Gustav Klimt motifs and produced in small-scale series will debut at Ambiente 2017. We ennoble custom-made beautiful glass jars, from vases, bowls, and lanterns to candleholders. Paint and leaf gilding turn them into handcrafted individual items.
Each piece is unique and personally crafted by Chris Nedwed in small-scale series. The unique paintings of the “A Tribute to Gustav Klimt” series are produced in the epoxy resin/varnish technique developed by Angelo-Viktor Nedwed. He combined gold leaf mosaics and bent copper wire with gilt bronze, varnish and a variety of colors.
