The Crystalite Bohemia s.r.o. Company was founded in October 2009 and currently it owns two manufacturing plants. The first is a glassworks at Světlá nad Sázavou where there is fully automated production of both beverage and decorative glass (this entity was founded in 1967), while the second is the Květná glassworks (founded in 1794) that is located in the village of Strání, in which to date handmade glass is produced and is also decorated using a variety of different techniques. Today, in the two factories, the Company employs over 900 people and it generates annual sales that reach close to CZK 37.5 million. Its products are exported worldwide to over 82 countries.
For many years the environmentally friendly lead-free Crystalite glass has been used for the production of Crystalite Bohemia’s entire product portfolio. Since 2016, the glass mass has been enriched with titanium. This ensures the greater degree of durability of the final product. This glass mass has a similarly high performance level as Czech crystal and also a high degree of durability and it can be washed in a dishwasher without any risk of it turning grey. Products made using this material are thereby stronger, more resistant to a larger number of cycles in a dishwasher, while their light refraction is also excellent. The Crystalite Bohemia glassworks is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic and the second in Europe to use titanium glass for the production of beverage glass.
Nowadays both the plants support each other synergistically. In Světlá, in addition to the manufacturing, the commercial and administrative facilities that provide services for the entire Company are also located, while at the glassworks in Květná, the decorating, engraving or grinding of both beverage and decorative glass is implemented and also of that which is produced on automated lines at the Světlá nad Sázavou plant.
Thanks to the installation of the new modern automatic production lines the annual capacity for beverage glass increased to 55 million units.
