1947 was rich of deep changes and hopes in post-war Italy. The Second World War left profound wounds and people tried to find in the oldest traditions the way to recover the serenity of a life without war. Christmas was for sure the most beautiful chance. Catholic Mediterranean regions like Italy, France and Spain had preferred the Holy Crib as traditional religious symbol for Christmas, while people living in northern Europe, where the Protestant Church was rooted, had chosen the Christmas Tree to decorate their homes. The cultural changes that every war bring with itself promoted the introduction of the Christmas Tree even in Italy.
It is in this context that, in 1947, the company \"Soffieria De Carlini\" was created, thanks to the inspiration of the originator, Mr. Enrico De Carlini. His father, a sculptor, attended Brera Academy in Milan and Enrico inherited a marked artistic sense, rich of creativity and imagination. Thanks to the help of his wife, Elisa, and his daughters, Maria Luisa and Rosa, he started to manufacture simple and delicate ornaments like spheres, ovals, drops and moulds. Every item, in those days as nowadays, was exclusively mouth-blown and hand-decorated.
The boost given by the customers, especially by American ones, has been determinant to accomplish an important change in the quality level offered by the company: let imagination be free to create unique ornaments, having a particular and original look that still characterizes them. Today, after more than 50 years, the company \"Soffieria De Carlini\" has evolved and has fit to all the changes imposed by modern society, but it has been able to respect traditions and glass-working art, thus continuing to offer unique and original ornaments, created and made completely and exclusively in Italy.
