The Deutsches Textilforschungszentrum Nord-West gGmbH (DTNW) is a think tank for innovative technologies for the creation of new textile products. The DTNW is a competent partner for solving problems related to functionality, finishing, ecology and testing.
The main research deals with the functionalisation of textile materials. They are used in aircrafts, cars, building industries, filter materials, and in medical products.
The core competence of the DTNW is the development of new technologies for technical and functional textiles, considering both economic and ecologic factors.
The DTNW is an institute at the Hochschule Niederrhein, University of Applied Science and the University Duisburg-Essen. Thus we act as a mediator between academic research and the textile industry.
The research work of the DTNW is done in four groups:
Physical technologies and textile testing methods
Biotechnology and catalysis
Supramolecular chemistry and functional surfaces
Colloid chemistry and nanotechnology
We also offer different services. The DTNW ÖP GmbH has a longtime experience in textile testing, and can provide various chemical analyses as well as mechanical and technical tests. In the realm of “Human Ecology”, the DTNW ÖP GmbH is accredited by the International Oeko-Tex® Association for testing and for issuing expert´s inspection reports according to the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.
In addition, industrial contract research can be offered including support regarding textile related problems. The DTNW can be an ideal partner for your ideas, providing goal-oriented research according to your demands. Our scientists accompany you from the development of first concepts to the final practical implementation. If you are interested in contract research, please contact the managing director Professor Dr. Jochen Gutmann or one of the four research group leaders.
