About Us

The Center for Management Research (DITF-MR) is part of the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf, Germany’s leading textile research center.

An interdisciplinary team develops and elaborates concepts, methods, and tools for supporting strategic and operative management as well as new structures, processes, and workflows for companies and networks.


Areas of application include:

Development and adaptation of management methods and IT-based tools for the textile industry

Our research results in process innovation, method innovation, and solutions to improve efficiency, innovation capability, and sustainable business success. We focus on best practices and pilot systems that can be transferred to companies and value-adding networks of the textile industry.

Management research on a European level

The Center for Management Research plays a leading role within the European Union in the coordination and organization of management research for the textile industry and its partners. A close collaboration with European companies is cultivated not only through EURATEX, the European Confederation representing the interests at the level of the EU institutions of the European textile and clothing industries as a whole, but also through bodies of the European Commission.

Management Research on a regional level

To better address and support small and medium-sized companies, DITF-MR cultivates target-group oriented and lively cooperation with the regional industry and the chambers of commerce and industry. As a member of national and regional networks, i.e. AFBW, the Baden-Wuerttemberg platform for fi ber-based materials, the technical textiles cluster Neckar-Alb, and the twelve research institutions of innBW supporting companies in tech nology transfer and R&D, DITF-MR is a vital part of the regional and national innovation landscape.

Academic Cooperation

DITF-MR collaborates with leading universities and research institutions around the world. There is a continuous intake of students, especially from the regional universities. The head of DITF-MR is also full professor in the Faculty of Engineering Design, Production Engineering and Automotive Engineering at the University of Stuttgart and director of the Institute for Diversity Studies in Engineering in that faculty.
