ITALIAN HAND CRAFTED PRODUCTION since 1950
Luigi Cella founded “Dogal Corde Armoniche” in 1950: taking advantage of the proximity of the “La Fenice” theather and its resident artists who offered their collaboration, Cella began the production of the first Dogal Violin Strings.
With traditional gut strings as a point of reference, Mr Cella's objective was to obtain a brilliant, powerful sound without metallic overtones. .
Nowadays Dogal specialises in the manufacture of strings for bowed instruments both for entry level students and professional players.
Even today, most of the production process is still by hand, with exact tolerances over the full lenght of each string only achievable by the masterly hands of skilled string makers.
Dogal Strings produces exclusively hand-made strings :
indeed only through careful artisan handwork can materials be trasformed in such a way as to male the instrument sound like it's maker intended.
Only the low tension permitted by the use of softer alloys (impossible to work by machine ) will allow the guitar to best express it's true potential:
for this reason at Dogal Strings we are so proud of the exclusivity of the materials we use.
Our highest priority is to preserve the long-term integrity of the Instrument from useless and damaging string-related stress, offering the widest possible variety of strings without the compromise of industrial manufacture and, most especially, avoiding the use of the mass-produced alloys... used by the masses.
The true essence of Dogal Strings is our experience and unending research, but it's only with our daily interaction with instrument makers and musicians that what an artist would call “inspiration” sees the light ....
... at this point your journey, into what makes a hand-made string “Made in Italy” truly unique begins !
