Estercook is a market leading, multiple award winning range of ovenable packaging based on Mylar® and incorporating FFP’s expertise in print and lamination for high temperature packaging.
As well as focussing on the benefits of cooking in Mylar®, DuPont Teijin Films’ unique range of coating technology also delivers mono web PET solutions for the packing of raw protein. The combination of low temperature seals, high clarity, class leading anti-fog properties and excellent seal through contamination makes the Mylar® range of lidding films a viable alternative to laminate lids and trays, delivering a lighter, cheaper and recyclable pack.
The Mylar® range of ovenable films is designed to work with practically any packing method and any food stuff. It delivers enhanced food safety, convenience and value to food packers, retailers and consumers. Cooking with Mylar® truly offers a superior eating experience as subtle flavours are retained and enhanced within the cooking process. Self-basting occurs in the pack ensuring the final product is succulent, and Mylar® films do not interfere with Maillard reactions which give food it’s reassuring golden brown colour. Cooking times can be reduced by about 20% in conventional ovens and as up to 50% in microwaves providing good food fast and reducing the CO2 footprint of cooking at home.
One of the most topical advantages of cooking with Mylar® is the “no touch” cooking experience and the impact this has on food safety. Food poisoning is a constant concern and the control of Campylobacter is of particular interest to the food industry. Cooking with Mylar® delivers “restaurant quality food at home” without the concerns of handling potentially dangerous raw food.
The food safety angle is equally important for the food service industry. Mylar® is widely used in institutional cooking applications as it not only delivers the consumers a better tasting product, but increases food safety and reduces costs. Cooking with Mylar® helps to reduce cost by reducing the frequency of clean ups in industrial ovens and also allows mixed proteins to be cooked together without fear of cross contamination.
