The European Apparel and Textile Confederation – EURATEX – is the political voice of the textile and clothing industry in Europe
The mission of EURATEX is to promote the competitiveness and sus-tainable growth of the industrial textile and clothing value chains in Europe by promoting the interests of the industry towards European and International institutions
As spokesman for all its member organisations on matters of com-mon interest (innovation R&D, trade, environment, education, skills, training, social, sustainability, standards, etc.) EURATEX coordinates the strategies to support the industry performance and aims to foster alliances with related sectors (e.g. machinery manufacturers, chemical industry, distribution, etc.) in order to maximize synergies with them by promoting the image of a dynamic and forward-looking industry.
EURATEX through the European Technology Platform for the Future of the Textile and Clothing is recognised by the European Commis-sion as one of the key bodies to consult in matters of R&D and inno-vation.
Our members are National Associations representing the textile and clothing industry interests in Europe (including Turkey) and also Euro-pean Associations representing the interests of certain sectors within our industry (e.g. cotton, man-made fibres, linen, non-woven, carpets, etc.).
EURATEX's member federations directly or indirectly represent, in the EU, some 170.000 companies of the industry employing 1.6 million workers. The companies which are overwhelmingly small and medium-sized enterprises cover a broad industry cross-section in terms of product, market segment and geographical spread.
With a household consumption of more than 490 Billion Euro, the EU-28 is the largest world market for textile and clothing products. Furthermore, it is the second world exporter in textiles as well as in clothing.
EURATEX is a recognised official body for the textile and apparel industry at European and international level. EURATEX is part of the European Social Dialogue for the textile and clothing sector and to-gether with its trade union partner aims to contribute to the sustainable development of employment and to promote the industry competitive-ness.
