Innovative Percussion, Inc. is dedicated to providing the percussion world with professional products of an unequaled quality. Each item is carefully crafted to insure product integrity and the quality needed to achieve the highest standards of today’s percussion excellence. We at Innovative Percussion, Inc. feel that the attention given to detail and design of quality percussion instruments deserves sticks and mallets parallel in quality.
Innovative Percussion, Inc. was created by Erik T. Johnson initially as an inexpensive source for his personal percussion keyboard mallets. Being an undergraduate at Middle Tennessee State University in the late 1980s, he started to make his own mallets to guarantee himself the quality he preferred, without creating large expenses for his studies. As he moved on to the University of North Texas for graduate work, he began receiving requests from friends to make some of the mallets for their use as well. Eventually, after many requests, he had thoughts of turning his hobby into a business. With advice and encouragement from former professor Mark Ford and several others, the idea for Innovative Percussion, Inc. was born. After completing his graduate studies at North Texas in 1991 Erik moved back to Tennessee with his idea of starting a company. He then began to proceed with the legal processes and other steps necessary to create his business.
Almost 20 years later, Innovative Percussion, Inc. has now become recognized as a leader in the manufacturing of percussion mallets and sticks. There are still many other ideas and products being developed to provide the percussion world with new and quality implements. Innovative Percussion, Inc. owes a great deal of its success to everyone who has supported Erik and his company over the years. Without the support of employees, endorsers, music stores, music distributors and the general public who has committed to using Innovative Percussion products, Innovative Percussion, Inc. would not be where it is today. Thank you very much for making Innovative Percussion, Inc. possible.
