Jahonnek was established in 2009 to produce high quality leather accessories in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. In our sewing workshops we mainly use Pamiri Yak and Hissar goat hides tanned with eco-friendly chemicals. We incorporate traditional designs and ethnic textiles and embroideries reflecting the wonderful cultures of the remote High Pamir Mountains of Central Asia, bordering Afghanistan and China.
We apply and promote fair trade principles and provide consistent income to marginalized women including Afghan refugees. We provide training to women on bag making and cooperate with Non-Governmental-Organizations working with refugees. Our workshop is aimed at empowering the creativity and skills of our partners.
