The company started as Alafil S.p.A. in 1997, having been established in Ala near Trento by an entrepreneur originally from Italy's Lombardy region. The factory was equipped with the most modern technologies for the manufacture of covering yarns. The shareholding quickly expanded with the entry of the Austrian based Fein-Elast group, which was keen to establish its presence in the Italian market and took over control of the company and changed its name to Fein-Elast Italia S.p.A. The business developed a reputation as a major player in the Italian market, with its customers appreciating the quality of its products and the assistance it provided. Since Fein-Elast was particularly interested in its growth in Italy, 75% of its turnover was consumed in the domestic market. In the early 2011 the Italian shareholders bought out the shares held by Fein-Elast Group and the name of the company was changed into LeMur S.p.A.
LeMur is aware that a continuous research of innovative products and solutions are the basis of our company and consequently has invested, in the past and in recent times, considerable human and financial resources. Its own R&D centre recently came up with the first spandex (registered with the trademark muriel®) that is resistant to high and to low temperatures, is completely biocompatible, UV, X and gamma ray resistant and varies its electrical resistivity according to the applied force to the fibre. As a result of this highly significant invention, our company is expanding the size of its factory which is now housing the first spinning plant of its kind.
