Oy Moomin Characters Ltd is the Moomin Licensor and official body responsible for Moomin copyright supervision. The company was first founded by Tove Jansson and her brother Lars Jansson in 1958. The company is still run by family members, Sophia Jansson, Tove’s niece and Lars’ daughter, being the Chairman of the Board and Creative Director. All of the Moominvalley characters are globally registered trademarks.

About the Moomins
The Moomins were created by Tove Jansson (1914-2001), painter, illustrator, author and one of Finland’s key artists. The first Moomin book “The Moomins and the Great Flood”, was published in 1945. Jansson wrote and illustrated nine novels, four picture books and hundreds of comic strips about the Moomins. To date her books have been translated into nearly 50 languages. The Moomins now have a very successful licensing program worldwide.
