Libeco is the largest flax mill in Belgium and is ranked among the top three linen manufacturers in Europe. The family business is located in Meulebeke, Belgium and was founded in 1858.
In addition to local and sustainable production, superior quality is at the core of Libeco’s mission. Since 2006, the company has held the title of Belgian Royal Warrant Holder and in 2014, the mill received the CO²-neutral label.
Belgian linen has earned a worldwide reputation based on centuries of knowledge, local expertise and traditional craftsmanship. The Belgian Linen™ quality label is an internationally recognized trademark that was created to promote Belgian linen, which is known around the world as the finest available.
Libeco Fabrics produces linen fabrics for industrial applications. Upholstery and decoration fabrics are the company's specialty. Libeco also produces linen fabrics for curtains, clothing and technical textiles.
In terms of both ecology and sustainable development, linen is a real champion. Flax is a natural, recyclable fiber that needs no irrigation and little chemical treatment. All parts of the plant are used, leaving no waste.
Starting with this ecological raw material, Libeco chose to take it a step further, with the launch of ‘Libeco Organic’, a unique collection of organic linen fabrics. The complete production process of the organic linen is certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard or GOTS, which guarantees it was produced in the most ecological and socially responsible manner, without the addition of any harmful substances.
