About Us

Take me directly to Range of services

NOUSAKU began manufacturing in 1916, using casting techniques handed down over 400 years in Takaoka city which has a high reputation as a center of metal industry. In our earliest days, we made Buddhist altar fittings, tea sets, and flower vases, later added table wares, home accessories and construction metals to its lineup. Not only for domestic market, but we also have been developing original items for overseas market, collaborating with local designers. Especially table ware collections designed by French designer are increasingly gaining attention of the professionals all over the world. With the aid of industrial technologies and cultivated wisdom of the past masters, we have been achieving an appropriate balance between material property and product design.

Fine appearance of the items such as tin table wares and brass home accessories are due to our advanced casting technique and refined finishing. Despite their seemingly simple appearance, it often requires multiple steps by our skilled craftsmen. Casting is the manufacturing method; pouring in the molten metal into a mold which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape, and allowing it to solidify. Special molds of silicone have been developed recently, and along with traditional sand casting, it is being improved constantly to ensure more stable production of items with a superb texture.

Our challenges toward new business are also ongoing. In 2014, we got a business license to manufacture medical devices and some of items are under clinical investigation. Flexible staffing and local network enables us to further spend time on research and refinement of the process, as well as responding to various requirements. Our mission is not only to clarify social significance of ourselves in this civilized consumer society, but also to explore opportunities and meanings of handicrafts for future generations. Rooted in Takaoka, we will continue to preserve and innovate the rich heritage of our ancestors and the values of our metal industry.
