Owens Corning is a leader in non-woven technologies and provides customized glass-based non-woven solutions for multiple construction and industrial applications made from randomly dispersed glass fibers, wet or dry laid and bonded into a thin sheet.
On the construction market driven by performance and design flexibility, materials conservation and energy efficiency, and productivity improvement, the attributes of our non-woven materials can help add value and transform applications especially in terms of structure (as reinforcement or corrosion barrier), performance (weight-to-strength ratio, dimensional stability, weather-ability, resistance to fire, mold, mildew), acoustics, and aesthetics (thanks to their smooth surface and opacity).
Our full range includes both standard, pre-impregnated, coated and laminated non-wovens. They are used to reinforce faced acoustical ceiling panels, flooring and insulation materials as well as interior and exterior gypsum boards. They give roofing shingles better dimensional stability and increased tear strength, and avoid moisture absorption. Our new Sustaina™ bio based non urea formaldehyde containing technology is helping material conservation in cushioned vinyl flooring, carpet and tile backing. The automotive industry uses our LifeMat™ veils in lead-acid batteries. In Glass Reinforced Plastics (GRP) panels, profiles, pipes, tanks, pleasure boats and wind turbine blades, our veils are used to reinforce gel-coated surfaces and provide a smooth, resin-rich surface.
Nearly all of the non-woven products we manufacture are unique for each customer and application. The non-woven plant network includes Apeldoorn, NL, Liversedge, UK, Aiken, SC and new state-of-the-art facility opened in 2016 in Gastonia, NC.
