When he started drafting the brand’s first collection back in 2010, designer Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte was driven by the will of giving a second wind to his hometown’s heritage of traditional handmade pottery by revamping long-established techniques and rethink their typical applications. Helped by his two brothers, they altogether outlined what soon would become not only an international reference of contemporary designs in pottery but also a tribute to local traditions.
Totana has been defending handmade pottery production from as far as medieval times and has one of the most varied concentration of craft workshops in Spain. Through the centuries, itscultural permeability has generated a rich and unique craftsmanship and allowed to maintain one of a kind throwing techniques. Located in the South East part of Spain, the town also benefits from typical Mediterranean climate suitable for the development of superior and natural clay used in pottery. From this unique local heritage of hand-crafting pottery techniques, Pott elaborates through a laborious process each one of its creations.
Pott’s creations are hand-crafted with care and dedication, applying traditional pottery techniques and natural materials to contemporary design. Every collection emerges with the intention of taking pottery to a new level while keeping up with handmade traditions. Each one displays a well-balanced distribution of flowing forms and symmetries while their matt surface and natural colors blend seamlessly into their environment.
