Serapid manufactures products and systems for precision movement of very heavy loads.
At the core of our technology is the Rigid Chain (RCT) – the chain that can push. It consists of interlocking links that behave like a chain, yet lock like a rigid bar, providing a safe, reliable and compact telescopic actuation mechanism that is environmentally friendly and works in harsh environments.
Our custom solutions range from individual components to turnkey stage systems, and encompass a wide variety of applications in industries as diverse as architecture, nuclear, medical technology, defense, automation, quick die change, engineering, manufacturing, theater and entertainment; products and systems include die carts and die handling systems, heavy duty actuators, lift tables, mechanical lifts, stage lifts and scenery movement.
In the sector of stage and event technology, SERAPID covers horizontal as well vertical motion. Or systems are used for stage-wagon deployment, podium lifting, convertible auditoria and the positioning of scenery equipment. There are chiefly two product lines we developed specifically for stage engineering. Our SilentChain functions as the actuator in our modular stage-wagon motion system. It is a variant of our classic horizontal chain that has been optimized for low noise emission. Our LinkLift is a vertical motion system for platforms and podiums that excels in load capacity, range of movement, stability and running smoothness. The LinkLift was designed originally for the stage and has received several awards in its field.
SERAPID is proud of many renowned references all over the world. Among the highlights are the central platform in the Beijing Olympic Stadium, measuring about 1000 square meters, the new platform lifts in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater and the convertible auditorium in the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
At prolight+sound 2018 SERAPID shows a compact lifting platform (footprint: 1,4 x 1,9 m) that is driven by two LinkLift-50 columns. The maximum payload is 1300 kg, the lifting height is up to 2,8 m, and the lifting speed is 500 mm/sec. The platform is compatible with the Layher Event mounting system and features a DMX control interface. A single platform can be controlled just as easily as a combination of multiple platforms running synchronized or alternating. This platform has been designed specifically for the Event business, but like all rigid-chain operated lift systems, it is capable of positioning with a repetitive accuracy of ± 1 mm and maintaining any desired position with no drift.
The Telescopic Mast, also present on the fair stand, is used to deploy scenery equipment such as lighting trusses or speaker racks. Basically, the Mast consists of a set of shaft segments that are nested inside each other, and a rigid chain in the center that drives the segments upwards one after the other and so extends them to form a mast capable of lifting loads up to several hundred kilograms. Stabilized by the mast structure the lifting column is self-guiding. The configuration can be closely adapted to individual application requirements. The maximum lifting distance is 9 m, the maximum payload for this height is 200 kg. Below 4,5 meters loads of up to 500 kg are possible. The maximum lifting speed is 250 mm/sec for all configurations.
