By relying on innovative technology and an intelligent structure the formally reduced LED cube reveals the full power within. One special highlight: the double-layered front surface, which not only gives rise to optical depth and a sculptural quality, but also opens up unimagined creative scope, making App more than just an energy-efficient light source. The front surface consists of a backing plate bonded with a second, selectable acrylic glass panel as a decorative element. Even the range of standard fronts available extends from different textured surfaces to restrained satin colors to mirrored surfaces and those with visual effects. The popular PLEXIGLAS program offers further options. And those who want to transport a message can have App personalized with individual prints.
Two cutting-edge, replaceable LED plates provide powerful and sustainable light in the opaque inner casing of the cube. Their intense light is dispersed symmetrically upwards and downwards, and as it hits the walls, ceiling and floor it is reflected throughout the space. Sideways, the flat cuboid emits softly diffused, entirely glare-free light. As the backing plate is opaque, the choice of front surface has no influence on the ambient light itself and can be based entirely on decorative considerations. An efficient cooling body on the back of the luminaire guarantees heat dissipation while adding to the overall design aesthetic.
The intelligent idea of Berlin-based design studio Formfjord to give the front a double-layered structure opens up inexhaustible possibilities, including for customized solutions with individual front surfaces and prints. As such App is virtually predestined to transport notes, logos, room names and numbers, or corporate design via company colors, making it a potential information carrier, guidance system and design element. Whether in a row, a graphic or an abstract arrangement, App is predestined for many different uses, turning private interiors, hotel lounges, hospitals, practices, office spaces, corridors, foyers and stairwells into conceptual light spaces.
