About Us

Take me directly to Visit us at the following trade fairs

Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, Shinshu University is Japan’s only faculty of textile science. We conduct education and research related with fiber engineering which is including the studies such as composite materials, smart fibers and textiles, functional textiles, KANSEI engineering, natural fibers, and biological processes. We will present several our recent research topics for discovering a new textile era in our booth.

1. Functional development of materials based on formation of polymer-induced assembly structure.  The fabrication of functional polymer/fiber materials and ceramics based on the structural development, which are induced by the transient/precursory structure derived from polymer characteristics, will be presented.

2. Computer simulation for clothing environment  We will introduce some simulation results, for clothing pressure and vacant spaces between clothing and human body, based on the finite element or particle methods, further we also show a new, simple measurement device that utilizes a laser range finder for vacant spaces in clothing.

3. New applications of cross-discipline integrated textiles We will introduce the study about development of sensor fabrics and three-dimensional fabric design such as integrating GPS antennas within clothing’s textile fibers for non-invasive monitoring.

4.  Advanced textile science and technology We will introduce our study related with textile science and technology such as modeling of fiber figure in card web, yarn thickness variation of hand-spun yarn, stab-proof fabric for protective clothing, optical fiber implemented textile, and nanofibers applications.
