SMI Standard Motor Interface e.V. is a registered association in accordance with German law. Members are companies and organisations operating in the field of progressive and economical system solutions for roller shutters and intelligent sun protection. The association has developed the standardised drive interface STANDARD MOTOR INTERFACE SMI and described it in a specification. Working groups and the office ensure further development, quality assurance and spreading of the standard. Tested products are marked with the SMI trademark and are published on the website of the association.
Drives and controllers with the SMI interface are successfully in operation in many representative building projects with international distribution.
All relevant information regarding decisions, planning, and the installation of roller shutters and sun protection systems is described in the planning manual. The manual - as well as a great deal of additional information - is available on the website of SMI STANDARD MOTOR INTERFACE e.V.
The STANDARD MOTOR INTERFACE is the standardised interface for electric drives in roller shutter and sun protection systems. SMI was developed for intelligent drives with integrated electronic circuits. This allows standardised data telegrams to be exchanged from the control to the drive and vice versa. Thanks to SMI, products of different manufacturers can be combined with one another. It is a substantial advantage for architects, planners, roller shutter and sun protection manufacturers as well as controller producers. Drives with an SMI interface offer additional benefits for the user.
Applications to roller shutters and sun protection systems make high demands for robustness and economy. The SMI interface fulfils these requirements.
There are many arguments in favour of solutions with the STANDARD MOTOR INTERFACE:
- Providing planning reliability
- Saving energy
- Saving costs
- Uniform design of façade image
- Optimising daylight
- Simplifying maintenance
- Avoiding complications
You will find more detailed information in the planning manual and on the website www.Standard-Motor-Interface.com.
