Since 2015 the entire production process has been moved to Germany (formerly Germany and Italy).
The company’s story
Georg Tarne’s and Paul Kupfer’s idea for glass bottles aroused in 2011 while they where studying in Vienna and searching for completely plastic-free drinking bottles themselves. “Why spend loads of money for bottled water when you can have the best tap water right away?“ they were thinking and this was already the beginning of soulbottles. The first bottles were completely handmade when the demand already exceeded their friends and family. As a logical consequence they founded their GmbH in 2012. After a successful crowd funding campaign in early 2013 and the company’s moving to Berlin, soulbottles are available offline in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and worldwide through the brand’s online shop.
Tap water is much easier to access than bottled mineral water. It is a lot cheaper, and our planet isn’t burdened with additional transport or plastic waste in the oceans. soulbottles make the consumption of tap water convenient, joyful and more beautiful! The bottles are made of glass and 100% plastic free, with no plasticizers, no toxins, no tricks. All designs originate from young designers who benefit directly from each bottle sold. In addition, we give 1€ per soulbottle to a WASH-project in Nepal — started by Viva con Agua — to guarantee even more people have access to clean drinking water.
Sustainability becomes attractive
The belief: A conscious, sustainable lifestyle becomes much easier, if items of daily usage are not only produced in an ethical correct manner, but also merge with one’s own lifestyle. The soulbottles’ appealing and diverse designs reflect this belief.
The majority of the designs origin from the crowd: young artists from all over the world can hand in their ideas in competitions, where the community votes their favourites. That way, artists and consumers are part of the development of a soulbottle.
If you want to get your very own design produced, this is possible starting at a quantity of 50 bottles.
Your constant companion
Catching the eye at every picnic in the park, a guaranteed conversation starter when travelling by train and at the office, your soulbottle is a charming reminder to keep up your daily water intake. Thanks to its handy size with 0,6l content and the comfy carrying handle she is easy to bring along and becomes your loyal companion.
Clean water in clean bottles – at home and worldwide
Compared to single use PET bottles, every soulbottle sold saves – according to our own estimates – up to 35kg CO2 and 3kg plastics. In order to produce our soulbottles sustainable and clean for the environment, we compensate all additional CO2 emissions by the end of the year via myclimate. This includes production and transport as well as all office activities.
At the same time we give 1€ per soulbottle to the organisation Viva con Agua from Hamburg to support access to clean drinking water worldwide. Until April 2016, all donations go to a WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) project in Nepal, which provides access to clean drinking water, hygiene education and health care to 40.000 people. Afterwards, a new WASH project will be defined.
