The TALQ Consortium has developed a global standard which enables interoperability and broad, risk-free vendor choice when adding software control to outdoor lighting networks. This common standard increases the choice for cities, manages long term risk and promotes ongoing innovation.
Additionally it creates the potential to significantly extend the energy, CO2, operational and safety benefits cities can achieve through modernisation of their road and urban lighting.
Founded by lighting industry leaders TALQ is open for new members. Entities like cities, municipalities, utilities, consultants, and others can join the TALQ Partner Program.
The new TALQ interface is a specification for information exchange, suitable for implementation in various products and systems. This way interoperability between Central Management Systems (CMS) and Outdoor Lighting Networks (OLN) from different vendors will be enabled, such that a single CMS can control different OLNs in different parts of a city or region.
The TALQ Specifications guarantees cities and operators of lighting networks not to depend on single suppliers but to foster competition for best pricing and future-proof solutions.
