TECHTERA is the innovation cluster for textiles and flexible materials in the AUVERGNE-RHÔNE-ALPES REGION, French leader in the textiles and composites sectors.
We support our 130 members (companies, universities, research centers...) in the emergence, structuration and implementation of their collaborative R&D projects. Since 2005, we have approved and supported 182 financed R&D projects, for a global R&D budget of € 495 million. These projects are either ongoing or achieved, with for some of them innovations already on the applicative markets of the textile industry.
We also provide services regarding the business development of our members on these markets: international actions (trade fairs, collective missions…), business launching projects for innovative products, identification of textile solutions for all industries.
Our cluster, day-by-day:
Make the best of its network, for the benefit of member companies (manufacturing companies, research centres, technical centres, training and education centres),
Provide a technological and financial watch of the industry, aiming at widening the possibilities for innovation (Innovation Workshop),
Constitute, run and conduct the collaborative project follow-up groups,
Attract the human and financial means necessary for the success of projects,
Provide a frame and organise the set-up of projects,
Advise and support its members through their search for fundings,
Communicate market-related, law and technical expertises,
Connect businesses, researchers, government, sponsors,
Conceive and implement partnerships, especially inter-clustering in France and abroad,
Implement international communication plans.
Today, the cluster has 130 members :
20% research and training centres.
Some of our services:
Innovation-Workshops: a major step in the process of creating R&D projects upstream,
Valorisation-Workshops: publish and present scientific and technical results of the projects initiated by Techtera,
Resource-Workshops: build a textile innovation dynamic by generating R&D projects and leading specialist networks on 5 areas: Safety/PPE, Construction/Infrastructure, Luxury, Transports, Health
Setting-up projects, through a methodology and designed tools for supervising collaborative R&D projects,
Business launching services: help members to find new markets for their innovative textile products and to reach the right contacts by implementing targeted business actions,
Club Smart Textiles & Wearables: the first French club dedicated to smart textiles and wearable devices. The objectives: to stimulate the network, to generate collaborative research projects, to foster the exchange of information, experiences and best practices, and to facilitate technical, scientific and business emulation in smart textiles.
Club RECIT: the club for stimulating collaborations in recycling and circular economy in the textile industry
The CART'TEX cartography: a chart of uncommon and exploitable skills within the textile industry skills to helps SMEs embarking on a project and find out about existing resources. More than 300 skills have been listed so far.
E.g.: A small business with a project to buy a machine and its complementary know-how as part of its business plan. The chart created by Techtera will allow this business to locate a firm in the region with this machine with its know-how and ready to do subcontract work. The collaboration between the two companies becomes established upstream of the proposed R&D project. Thus, each has benefited from the availability of Techtera’s in-depth knowledge in the industry.
