A. + E. UNGRICHT GMBH + CO KG in Mönchengladbach is one of the companies that have understood the economic crisis as an opportunity and have positioned themselves subsequently more leanly and as more trendsetting. The calender, printing and embossing roller experts from the Rhineland are simultaneously expanding their portfolio and making their expertise accessible to a wider customer base. For this reason, UNGRICHT will also present new developments for the first time this year at the Techtextil in Frankfurt, the leading trade fair for the global Textile industry.
At this stage, UNGRICHT employs approximately 200 people and generates annual sales of over EUR 20 million. All business activities are united in the only location in Mönchengladbach, where the company has a total area of 45,000 m2 for manufacturing, administration and warehousing available on a plot of 60,000 m2.
On the history:
The A. + E. UNGRICHT GMBH + CO KG was founded in 1892 in Mönchengladbach, and is now managed in the fifth generation by Markus Ungricht, his brothers Gregor and Burkard, and CEO Dr. Zeislmair. Up until the '70s, the business purpose of the company consisted mainly of the manufacture of rollers for the textile industry, the wallpaper industry, the decorative paper industry, in floor coverings, table covers, foil printing (e.g., d-c-fix) and in artificial leather. In the early 90s, a new three-story production building with 12,000 m2 of floor space was put into operation for the production of gravure cylinders and for decorative development. The heart of this divisional area was made up of the large format scanner, film retouching and the emerging digital image processing for decorative developments with approximately 70 employees and the electronic cylinder engraving machines including various laser systems.
PRINTING, EMBOSSING, COATING
The full-production includes the production of rollers, including engineering, surface treatment and various engraving departments and all major areas of electroplating, and plasma-ceramic coating. The portfolio can be roughly divided into three divisions; rollers for decorative and technical printing, rollers for decorative and technical embossing including calender rolls and screen and ceramic and anilox rollers for various applications such as coating, painting, flexography, offset printing and other applications.
Furthermore UNGRICHT, as the undisputed market leader for calendering and embossing rollers, supplies almost all areas of manufacturing with nonwoven material as well as the tissue and hygiene film industry. They benefit particularly from the long experience of the Mönchengladbach’s company in terms of calender rollers, embossing rollers, engraved and smooth casting rollers, application rollers and pressure rollers for coating and screen rollers and pressure rollers for specialty applications.
The collaboration with leading OEMs, which has grown over decades in these markets, has resulted in various product developments. A specially designed laboratory stamping plant for the tissue business segment will be put into operation soon, which will allow the product developers among our customers to produce laminated products such as toilet paper and kitchen paper rolls for further market research. UNGRICHT is presenting a new generation of "roller surface" for the Textile Industry.
