The ZYEX business emerged from polymer discoveries made by ICI (a large UK chemical company) in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The trade mark and the initial industrial and sports string monofilament product range was established in the late 1980s.
Becoming independent in 1994 as ZYEX Ltd, manufacturing was set up in Stonehouse in Gloucestershire, which has good local links to the aerospace industry, and is conveniently located for exporting from Heathrow and Birmingham airports. In addition to extending monofil and multifil manufacturing, investments have more recently been made in recyeling lines and a clean room facility.
