1905 Foundation of the company as "Franco-Suisse, Edition Photographique" by Mr Freytag and Mr Ernst Zaugg, great uncle of Mr Alfred E. Boss, in Berne. Manufacture and sale of traditional picture postcards with photo motifs.
1926 Sale of the company to Mr Louis Alfred Boss. The company is now registered under the name “Ls. Alfred Boss“. The product range is extended to include birthday, New Year, Easter and condolence cards.
1939 Alfred Emil Boss joins his father’s company as a salesman and the head responsible for acquiring new customers. First steps towards a self-owned publishing company.
1944 Move to Schönbühl location
1947 Renaming of the company Louis Alfred Boss into A. Boss + Co
1965 Foundation of the Prolith AG in Köniz by ABC
1973 Acquistion of the Bandschapp AG in Wettingen
1985 Foundation of Céline Carterie in France
1985/86 Daniel Eicher joins the company as successor and CEO of the ABC group
1986 Foundation of the Boss Holding AG
1994 Move to the new premises at Grubenstrasse 22 in Schönbühl. In the same year we were awarded the ATU PRIX (arts prize of the city of Berne for architecture) for our new company building.
