The beginning was a small design-studio near Berlin. Thomas Adam and Stephan Ziege started their company with producing design for other factories and "one of a kind" pieces of porcelain.
Both are Professional Designer, Adam studied in Halle "Burg Giebichenstein" and Ziege in Berlin "Kunsthochschule Weissensee".
In the periods of practical training they worked in several manufactories, for example the "Meissner Porzellanmanufactur". They know the material and their profession from the idea, the scetch - sometimes an artwork itself - over the model, the mould, the production, painting and firing - every part happens under one roof. Here is the productions since 1998, here create "Adam & Ziege" together with 6 employers the collection, now more than 1000 several pieces.
They have more than enough ideas for the new products, the make all day sketches, talk and make funny drawings together. For the realisation of their creatures they don’t need a natural cow in the studio or a comic-movie: every new thing they discuss together with everybody in the manufactory, and often somebody said: “a natural cow look very different - but it doesn’t matter!” every year in February and august they go to the international fairs in Frankfurt/main "ambiente" and "tendence". Sometimes they have a special show there, but every time they show special new ideas. The order for the products came from all over the world.
The collection of the press review are very big - and "adam & ziege" and their manufactory were often in tv-shows. The porcelain from "adam & ziege" is not the usual one, every piece has a funny detail, the mugs are battered, Noah’s arc is filled with cross-eyed animals you can use as pepper and salt. Bottle stoppers and a of frogs in mugs, on plates, pots and boxes. The function of the pieces is necessary for the designer; you have to use it, but it should make a smile on your face. With our products we want to show the fun we have in our company all over the world.
