Silver- and leather jewellery from Niamey and Agadez, goat-skin covered boxes made by the Touareg, Mud Cloth from villages in Mali, or shoes and bags made of soft leather or rare objects which had been used for many years in the ceremonies and in every-day life in the villages – these rare and special treasures I find during my long journeys through various countries of West- and East Africa.
I import antiques and cultural objects, but I also work together with craftsmen who produce Mud Cloth, leather works, silver jewellery and articles made of bronze.
It is a special concern to me to bring works of high quality from many different African countries to the European market. At least twice a year I visit local craftsmen who work for me to pick up my orders and to check the quality of the products and to discuss new designs with them. Many of them live in very remote villages in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, etc.
The start was not easy. I had to make it very clear to them that I would only be able to sell perfect quality and that they also would profit if they deliver the products on time.
In the meantime my company Afrika–Wahn has become known for its rare home accessories, objects, jewellery, fabrics and leatherworks all over the world.
Come and visit my stall at the Frankfurt Fair and be fascinated by the rich culture of the African continent!
