Electrical engineering and electronics is the key industry for the global industrial, service and information society of the 21st century.
Employing an aggregate workforce of over 810,000, Germany’s electrical and electronics firms manufacture more than 100,000 different products and systems, including micro-electronic components as well as systems to generate, distribute and transform electrical power, electrical household appliances, automation systems, lamps and luminaires, electrical and electronic medical equipment and consumer electronics, computers, automotive electronics or traffic control systems.
Electrical and electronic manufacturers and products are the motor force behind globalized markets and competition. International customers and their needs are a prime concern of our firms and their employees. Over half of the products manufactured and services rendered by the German electrical and electronics industry are for export.
In this industry, over 400,000 people are employed in German enterprises all over the world outside Germany. Global transport, electricity supply, information and communications networks are key to closer international cooperation, not just on the economic front. One thing is already clear now: the global industrial and information society of the 21st century needs an efficient and innovative electrical and electronics industry.
