Our company:

Mrs. Pornsan Tonavanik established her first silk shop 60 years ago on Suriwongri Road. In the early days, Anita Thai Silk was a very popular silk shop among the first few shops in Bangkok where tourists could have custom silk dresses made during their stay in Bangkok. From those early days of success, the business has expanded to focus mainly for the export market by the management of Anita Export L.P. Anita Export was able to vertically integrated silk finished goods production – from yarn dyeing, winding, weaving to production of garments and gifts. Hence the company was able to cater to ever increasing demand by designers and buyers especially, from the perspective of design-product development and high quality standard.

In 1998, the company has decided to launch our own design of home decorative and gift items at the Bangkok International Gifts Show and at the international trade fairs such as Ambeinte in Frankfurt and Tokyo, Mason et Objet in Paris and IFFS in Singapore. The main objective was to market our design concept and brand image. The success of the exhibition has opened a new market arena where our team of designers has shown new breed of Thai Silk decorative and gifts items using new object form, color trend and mix-match of different materials besides silk. Function of the product and cost effectiveness relative to customer’s perceived value was also taking into consideration of the product design.  Our new marketing strategy - design oriented goods has proven a success and even improve relationships with existing customers. After experiencing our new designs, the customers have learned to trust our opinion on the design aspects and became more confidence in our products.

Besides the consistent improvement in the design and production of silk fabric for home and fashion markets, the company will be emphasizing in home decorative and gift items for the export market where other new materials will also be introduced with collaborations of local Thai craftsmen and manufacturers. To enhance our operation to meet increasing global competition, there will be more collaboration with locally talented designers as well as overseas designers.

Finally, we strongly believe that for a company to survive in such today fierce global competition, the company has to develop its competitive edge on the product design and be able to launch the product effectively in the market place in a timely manner.
