In 1923 Westmark was founded by Karl-Walther Schulte in Herscheid. In the first years the company manufactured cooking equipment and cutlery from aluminium. In particular the development of practical kitchen gadgets such as stoners, egg slicers and different garnishing tools made from high quality cast aluminium, established the brand Westmark amongst professional and leisure-time-chefs. The company Famos was founded by Hubert Deimel in 1958. The most popular article in the range has surely been the Famos peeler. By the 1960s metal profiling and plastic manufacturing were running side-by-side and the final establishment in the market was achieved in the 1990s, mainly through the take-over of different competitor-assortments. At the beginning of 2002 both companies merged to form Famos-Westmark GmbH. Since then Christian Deimel has been running the production company as sole owner. A large assortment of kitchen gadgets & utensils are now offered under the brand name Westmark. The Company headquarters housing administration, warehousing (offering space for 6.000 pallets), plastic and metal manufacturing (profiling) is located in Lennestadt-Elspe. The former Westmark premises in Herscheid is still operational with our aluminium manufacturing (die cast aluminium, profiling, assembling), This will be moved consolidating the most up-to-date production standards - to headquarters at Lennestadt in late 2005. Modern structures such as the cooperation with workshops for the disabled people and various satellite companies as well as a sound team spirit, puts the company in a flexible and competitive position. This is why high quality Made in Germany products are still affordable and help to maintain employment in our domestic market.
