Format Werk is Austria's largest producer of school and office stationery. Our headquarters is based in Gunskirchen near Wels, Upper Austria (address), where the offices and production area occupy a footprint of 5,000m². We employ around 110 people; 30 in Management and Administration and 80 in Production. Format Werk was founded in 1976.
Our core business is divided into two main segments: office and school. Format Werk's office brands are the traditional URSUS range, the new URSUS Success range, plus the Tell, Alma and Format brands.
Our state-of-the-art school brands are Formati, Format-X and Die Formats.
We are specialists in paper processing. Our wide product range includes exercise books, school notepads, ring binder refills, drawing pads, spiral-bound stationery, business memo pads, college pads, notebooks, flipchart pads, index cards, carbon copy books, office paper and much more. In Austria and Germany exclusively 100% Totally Chlorine-Free (TCF) paper is used. The IQ Unique Triotec Paper is very environment-friendly. The paper consists of 3 layers (TCF - REC - TCF) with a share of 50% recycling paper.
With a processing capacity of approx. 15,000 tonnes per year, Format Werk is one of the top paper processing companies in Europe.

Our machine park includes several stapling machines, loose-leaf presses, sheet-fed presses, pad presses, spiral binding machines, bookbinding presses, digital printers and a sheet-fed offset printing press.
Besides serving Austria, we export to Switzerland, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Italy, Hungary and Germany. Regardless of whether the customer is a grocery retailer, forwarder, wholesaler, cash+carry business or office supplies company, Format Werk is well-known in Austria and in the export business as a full range stationery producer with more than 4,000 items. Our products are available in a variety of paper qualities and in various formats.
