Foster Needle Company was founded in 1956 by Mr. Edson P Foster. He was a skilled engineer and one time employee of the Torrington Company located in Connecticut USA, in those days the worlds largest needle making company. His work at this company gave Mr. Foster the inspiration to begin his own felting needle-making company in Manitowoc, Wisconsin USA. He designed, created and patented many of the felting needle blade shapes, barb shapes and features that are now used as standard by many needlepunching facilities around the world today. By far one of the most important designs to be patented was the Foster Formed Barb, the first felting needle barb with rounded fibre engaging surfaces to be manufactured and to become a commercial success. Today we can offer the nonwoven felting industry the widest variety of needle designs suitable for all needlepunching processes and applications.
