Haymann’s roots...
...reach back to 1968 when the company was founded under the name of „Handelskontor Haymann GmbH", initially with its head office in Hachenburg.
Since then the company has specialised in wholesaling and exporting all kinds of furniture items, living accessories, as well as decorative and gift articles. Haymann’s position on the market has, however, undergone substantial changes over the years. Initially there was a clear orientation towards the traditional specialist retailer. In the course of the company’s steady growth, however, it has primarily opened up new sales regions abroad and, without neglecting the specialist retailer, has won more and more major customers with its increasing competitiveness.
Today our customers include not only specialist retailers, but also mainly furniture and DIY stores, garden centres, florist wholesalers, grocery and chemist chains as well as department stores. The export share amounts to approximately one third of the total turnover. Haymann has positioned itself on this market as a company offering a full range of products and a high level of service at competitive prices. The wide range of approximately 10,000 articles is, however, no arbitrary collection of individual items. In fact, we pay particularly close attention to the design of our range in order to make it distinct from those of our rivals. Crossing the boundaries of the individual product groups, Haymann offers its more than 8,000 active customers coordinated product areas. This is an important prerequisite for one-stop fulfillment of customer requirements. Furthermore, in show rooms and at exhibitions, we are also able to create atmospheric visual displays of our products by means of professional decoration and article presentation, which inspire our customers, supply them with ideas and finally also increase demand. We offer our major customers, some of whom have several hundred branches at home and abroad, above all:
• An individual policy on range and product development which takes into consideration both the situation on the market and among competitors, • Well-established, competitive trade brands ("Villa Verde" and "Arietta"), clearly distinct from the specialist retailers, • reliable logistics including special services (e.g. labelling) and • Various concepts for the presentation of goods as well as shelving systems, which meet customer-specific requirements with regard to stocking, presentation, and ease of handling.
The successful development of the company has relied on careful observation of the constantly changing framework in the sector, defining appropriate measures and implementing them in real time. In 2000 Haymann was already setting up strategically important partnerships in Poland, which today represent an important basis for our competitiveness. Reflecting their increasing importance, these partnerships lead into reciprocal shareholding status. The acquisition, warehousing, picking, labelling and direct distribution of goods from eastern Europe is today carried out almost entirely by our partners in Poland. The advantages of this are mainly to be seen in the cheaper execution of areas of performance which are otherwise cost-intensive in labour terms. Within the framework of a constantly changing customer structure and as a consequence of our growth targets, the division of tasks will be intensified in the future. In real terms this means goods of Far East origin will also be handled in Poland. With this in mind investments to increase capacity in Poland have been and are continuing to be made. At the moment we are extending our warehouse capacities there from the present 12,000 m2 by a further 7,000 m2. Warehousing capacity in Norken (approximately 20,000 m2) will in future be used primarily for bulk articles and articles from western Europe.
Today Haymann is in a position to set trends. We belong to the leading companies in this branch within Germany and Europe. This position on the market is the result of a consistent strategy for growth in the last few years based upon high customer acceptance. This strategy will also be successfully implemented by Haymann in the future, thus securing the jobs of more than 200 employees in the company group.
