Piano Maker Walter Heller began producing bass strings in 1985. Five years later he built his own factory. In 1997, his son Gregor, a piano maker like his father, took over the firm. Today, Hellerbass with its eight employees supplies repair shops and branches of the piano manufacturing industry with bass strings for upright and grand pianos.
How to order piano bass strings: 50% of which are sold to foreign customers. More than 98% of our customers don´t send in their old bass strings anymore when they place their orders, but measure the A an B values inside the instrument, fill in our “Bass Order Form“ and send it to us through their fax machines or submit the online order form.
A = measure from hitch pin to second woodbridge pin B = measure from hitch pin to agraffe/stud Furthermore, you should add the total diameter of the thickest and thinnest monochord, bichord and trichord strings.
You might also add the desired core and copper densities if you´d like us to wind the measure you calculated yourself. If you are ordering single strings, you might of course specify the measure from ring to copper start or the length of the spinning. This will warrant better integration with the remaining set of strings. When ordering tuning pins, all you´ll have to do is fill in the desired number of tuning pin sets in the appropriate fields. The left column is meant for blue and the right column for nickel-plated tuning pins. If you should ever have to measure without our tape measure, please start measuring at the forward edge of the hitch pin, and don´t include the hitch pin diameter. This way, it should be correspond to our measurement system.
Please contact us for a free tape measure.
