The company operates six business units named after the areas of application that they specialise in: Adhesive Coating, Automotive, Construction, Consumer Goods, Footwear and General Converting. In addition to state-of-the-art products and technologies, Sekisui Alveo also offers a comprehensive service that includes test procedures in its Application Services Laboratory, as well as an efficient consultancy service.
Sekisui Alveo’s headquarter is located in Lucerne, Switzerland. The company currently has approx. 470 employees in Europe. Since 1973 Sekisui Alveo has been fully owned by the Japanese company, Sekisui Chemical Co. Ltd. Together with its subsidiaries, Sekisui Chemical serves approximately 50 % of the global market for cross-linked polyolefin foams - 30 % of this is developed and produced by Sekisui Alveo.

“Innovation in foam” is our vision
Sekisui Alveo has set itself the target of further solidifying and expanding its position as a leading manufacturer of polyolefin foams. The company redefined its strategy for meeting the challenges of global operation in 2006 in what it refers to as its “Vision House.” In order to open up new markets Sekisui Alveo plans to increase its focus on developing innovative technologies and designing even more efficient production techniques. Further areas of application will also be opened up with new products. Another cornerstone of the company’s policy is the expansion of its positioning as a solution provider. The experts from the various business units develop and produce customised system solutions in close cooperation with processing companies and manufacturers.
Added value is further increased by the customer-oriented service, which optimally supports the customers with their processes. Another pillar that the company invests in is the progress and further training of its employees – its most important assets.

History
Alveo AG was established in 1971, headquarter is located in Lucerne, Switzerland. Right from the start, the company specialises in the development and production of polyolefin foams.
In 1973 Alveo AG became a 100% subsidiary of the Japanese company, Sekisui Chemical Co. Ltd. However, Alveo CEO, Jean-Pierre Sormani, remained at the helm. In the following years Alveo AG emerged as Europe’s leading manufacturer of polyolefin foams.
In 2006 the names “Alveo” and “Sekisui” were brought together as part of a global rebranding. By taking this step, Sekisui Alveo AG wishes to emphasize its affiliation with its parent company and its global cooperation and interaction with its sister companies.
Igor Allinckx, a long-time member of staff and management took over as the company’s CEO in 2007.

Research & development – service for the customer
Sekisui Alveo set up its Application Services Laboratory in Lucerne in 1976. A team of experts compiles feasibility studies in the lab for processing materials, as well as testing new applications and producing prototypes. The laboratory’s work includes lab analyses and endurance tests, for fire behaviour or tensile strength, for example. The focus here is on cooperation and service for both customers and partners. Often in close cooperation with customers, the experts in the lab develop customized product solutions, which are tailor-made to meet their requirements. This service also supports partners and customers in enhancing their processes, optimising their end product, thus saving costs.
