Wicker

Wicker is a flexible, natural material and is used in the construction of furniture and decorative items. Wholesale wicker products are made from a variety of flexible twigs, branches and plant stems, such as bamboo, rattan and willow. Rattan is typically the most common raw material for wholesale wicker products, especially indoor furniture. Rattan is a solid timber vine, native to the tropical rainforests of south Asia, which can be fashioned into lightweight, flexible poles that are both aesthetically pleasing and durable. Wicker is traditionally made from material of plant origin, but synthetic wicker, made from plastic materials, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE), is also available. HDPE is recyclable and, therefore, promises environmentally friendly qualities. Productpilot.com offers businesses the chance to locate the wicker suppliers they need.

The history of wicker furniture dates back to the Sumerian civilisation, which emerged in southern Mesopotamia (now south-eastern Iraq) circa 4000 BC, but it is important to note that the term “wicker” refers to the process by which fibrous material is woven into rigid, usable products. In other words, any reference to wholesale wicker typically indicates wholesale wicker products, rather than any kind of raw material. It should be obvious, from the wicker supplier, exactly what is on offer.

Wicker furniture, in the form of armchairs, coffee tables, dining chairs and sofas, may be suitable for indoor or outdoor use, although wicker for outdoor used must be stabilised to protect it from the effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation when exposed to sunlight. A wicker wholesaler can provide information on specific products. Of course, wicker is by no means limited to the production of furniture. The process lends itself well to the creation of laundry, picnic and shopping baskets, trays, wine holders and other household items. Producpilot.com provides an effective marketplace for wicker products of all descriptions.
